THE Windmill FC – First Division Cup Final – Match Review

Taken from THE windmill fc’s instagram page

After a massive win against Monkton the previous week the boys knew the opponents would be well up for it being a cup final. The game started very cagey with both teams being relatively cautious during the first 20 the only real bit of entertainment to note was JIM trying to land the peoples elbow on the young Monkton winger. The game then burst into life when the council estate de Bruyne Dan Todd slipped a wonderfully weighted pass into the feet of Jamie Brown who finished with an exquisitely timed chip to put us 1-0 up.

The game was then all Windmill, with Monkton unable to handle the press and the defence falling to pieces a spritely Jamie Brown managed to nick the ball earning us a penalty in the process Dan Todd dispatched brilliantly as he has done all season, coming in at half time the boys knew the game wasn’t done. Second half started the way the first half finished with us on the front foot however Josh Miniwood just couldn’t find the net, Monkton found a way back into the game with a goal from a corner, and started to apply the pressure hitting long ball after long ball onto the back 4 who dealt with it superbly. The team battled phenomenally and managed to hold out for the win. Credit to Monkton who battled hard in the second half.
